As of October 2018, St Albans just got even more interesting. Like the famous markets of London, St Albans officially hosts a monthly open-air antique and vintage market on St Peters Street. From this point forward the St Albans Antique and Vintage Market will appear once a month on Sunday 9-3, not to conflict with the monthly Sunday food market or the Christmas market that starts late November.
St Albans Antique And Vintage Market
Its inauguration couldn’t have been on a more perfect Autumn sunny day. Stalls were packed with people, making it a bit tricky to look through the fine bits of art or other vintage pieces that couldn’t be admired from a distance, forcing you to make a quick decision before it was gone.
The excitement of shoppers lined St Peters from St Albans Museum + Gallery to just past Pret. Not too bad for its opening day.
With the expectation of stalls to grow as the market grows in popularity and traders alike, the market already hosts a wide variety of goods such as textiles, art, pottery, jewelry, vintage props, decorative antiques, military goods, and even old maps (to include that accompanying old parchment smell!).

Burberry Trench for £20 or vintage pre-1950s American flag for £30.
Once you’ve had a look, St Albans offers more to round out your day of shopping or site sightseeing: St Albans Cathedral & Abbey Church, Verulamium Park, Gorhambury Estate walk, Venus and Adonis or perhaps the oldest pub in the country, Ye Olde Fighting Cock.

The only contemporary painting in the world of a Shakespeare work @ Pots of Art, St Albans.
Hungry? Grab a snack from one of the food trucks or pop into one of the many cafes, like Nkora or the Pudding Spot for a break. Grab lunch at one of the many lunch spots, like HATCH for the best burger in town.
Whether you’re decorating a home, finding a unique gift or simply exploring the “new Shoreditch”, as cited by the Sunday Times, the new St Albans Antique and Vintage market will not disappoint. Check for dates and times on the official St Albans Antique and Vintage market hours here.
