Home doesn’t feel far away when you let yourself take in your surroundings. Sure, moving is hard but when you get past the first six months, it’s far easier to find relatable things despite the distance that might separate you from where you’re originally from and where you are now. And if New England is where you used to or still call home, then living in the UK is likely a breeze. Maybe not now, but it will be soon.
And if you don’t believe me, let me explain.
During a recent Maine trip, I was captivated by so many beautiful landscapes or items that easily reminded me of England. I don’t know why it took living in the UK to realize the close resemblance to New England or vice versa. But man, so much of New England really IS England.
I’d love to share every picture I took that reminded me of England while visiting Maine, but who has time for that? Besides, there are only so many pictures of lighthouses, lobsters, and chowder with Westminster Oyster crackers that a girl can take.
So here are some favorites that make me pinch myself every time I look at them. I mean, really? Who knew! So go on and test yourself. Do you think it’s England or New England? And if you’re not sure, you should really visit for yourself. ✈️

Ok, so the license plate gives this one away and more likely a van to see in California than New England, but nevertheless, made me feel at home. Found in Cornwall, England.

This critter looks extremely similar to a Maine lobster but not red enough to be one. But honestly, they look nearly the same.

Coastlines, food, love for the ocean and I even dare say the weather! Thes are the things England and New England have in common and more. It’s easy to relate when you find something or even someone familiar.
Maybe its where you’re from or where you’ve been. Nevertheless, it makes life far easier, more fun and a lot more comfortable. At least for me.
