From a timing perspective, personally receiving a British food hamper couldn’t be any more perfect. While most people have food baskets top of mind at Christmas, there are so many occasions and life events that warrant one. Shall I say…moving?
Having repatriated to the USA 6 months ago, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have this British gift hamper at my doorstep. In addition to filling pangs of Britain homesickness, it offers an opportunity to do a bit of UK food travel, too.
2 – The Shipping From England to Texas
The time from order to delivery is top-notch and quite frankly, amazing. This especially rings true for anyone trying to ship a package themself to friends or family overseas. International shipping is always tricky and you’re never quite confident if it’ll truly make it there even after laying down a lot of cash to be sure of it. For example, a package I shipped through USPS to the UK 3 months ago went via Qatar and appears to have decided to stay there. ☹️

I spent $135 (just the cost to ship the package, not the contents inside) on that box I shipped to the UK in December that never made it to its final Berkhamsted destination via USPS. It was full of American snacks, a few small personal gifts for my friend, and a couple of fun Texas items. The box was smaller than The British Hamper Company box, and weighed far less, too. 3 – The British Food Hamper Reveal
The container the food hamper ships in from the UK to the USA is thick sturdy cardboard. Upon opening the package, I was a bit surprised to see that there was no filler or packaging around the hamper itself. Regardless, the box was in perfect condition and better for the environment, too.

4 – What’s In The Box
There are different layers of discovery with the Gourmet Traditional British Food Hamper.

An inch or 2 of paper filler protects the top layer of food items. Once this top layer is removed, the first layer of British food goodies are revealed.

Right when you think you’re done admiring each item and quickly making claims, you discover more goodies hiding underneath the paper filler.

It doesn’t take long for family members to start claiming the goods. The hot cocoa that looks like mini chocolate morsels is the first to go, followed by crisps, chocolate, and even the red chili crackers. Thankfully the kids are still too young to appreciate a delicious jam so the strawberry & cream is all mine.
Tea was expected but I was surprised, in a good way, to find a bag of coffee, too. While coffee isn’t necessarily top of mind when you think of British things, it’s definitely growing in popularity in the UK.

My favorite aspect about the contents of this British food gift basket is the ability to basically do a food tour around the UK from my home in Texas. Certainly prefer to do it in person but when it’s not possible, a British food hamper is second best.
